The Kennedy Center Seminars
The Kennedy Center Seminars In Fall 2018, Georgetown University and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will launch a new collaboration linking Kennedy Center performance, creative talent and community patrons with Georgetown's faculty and students through a series of Seminars. For the year of 2018-19, the GU-KC Seminars will focus on the thematic of "The Human Journey" through a series of three Kennedy Center performances paired with discussions with Kennedy Center creatives, Georgetown students, and Georgetown faculty. This project is in collaboration with the Designing the Future(s) Initiative, the Georgetown Humanities Center, and Georgetown College. The Fall seminar series will consist of several elements: Students will have the opportunity to attend any of three performances (below) in November free of charge, on a one-event-at-a-time basis. Students who apply for a ticket must also commit to the conversation with a faculty member, the show's creatives, and other student participants later that week (see times below). A small cohort of 3-6 students will be selected as Seminar Scholars for the duration of the Kennedy Center Seminars. Seminar Scholars will be the connective voice across all three Fall Seminars. Derek Goldman, Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Georgetown University and co-Founding Director of the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics, will host the conversations paired with each performance and add to it his expertise and perspective. One journalist/writer/academic will be a unifying voice across the performances, document in writing the span of themes and interactions, and serve as the mentor/editor for the Seminar Scholars. Please sign up for one of the following performances using this registration form.
