Jeff Antoniuk & the Jazz Update, featuring Russ Nolan

Twins Jazz is delighted to welcome back to their stage saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk, and his top flight band, The Jazz Update. For this weekend in December, Jeff is bringing to the stage an amazing show, with some of the finest musicians in the world. Sharing the spotlight in this rare two-saxophone front line is New York based tenor and soprano player Russ Nolan. A busy touring headliner, Russ Nolan is a force to be reckoned with. There are going to be plenty of fireworks between Antoniuk and Nolan on this show!

The rhythm section features three of the top players on the east coast, who have backed some of the finest artists in the world. Alex Meadow, Elliott Seppa on bass (Vinnie Colaiuta, Donald Brown), Tony Martucci on drums (John Abercrombie, Joe Lovano, Mose Allison) and Wade Beach (Airmen of Note, Sir Roland Hanna).

Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear the Jazz Update and Russ Nolan at Twins Jazz. Every major magazine in jazz has raved about their CD releases "Brotherhood" and "Here Today."

"Jeff Antoniuk and the Jazz Update are frequent and admired contributors to the Washington, DC jazz scene. This is a quartet steeped in a 21st century style of hard bop that still values solid melody lines, probing improvisation, and, when called for, sheer beauty…These guys are drawing from the timeless well of jazz tradition."

George Fendel, Jazzscene

"Russ Nolan does not do run of the mill. Whatever the repertoire, he always manages to provide a fresh perspective founded not on gimmicks, but on thoughtful integrity allied to insightful playing"
