Dumbarton House Admission
Self-guide Dumbarton House's stunning period rooms and exhibition spaces using descriptive panels in each room or a detailed tour on the Vamonde app. The first floor of Dumbarton House is designed to look similar to how it would have looked in 1804, when Joseph Nourse, the first Register of the Treasury, lived here with his wife Maria and about 10 indentured and enslaved workers. The second floor of Dumbarton House contains rotating exhibitions about topics like how DC was chosen as the capital of the United States, drinking, dancing, and education in the Federal Period, and historic house museum preservation. For your safety: Face coverings are required at this time for staff and visitors in indoor spaces Please maintain a social distance of 6' or more from other parties Museum attendance will be limited to 10 people at a time Online pre-purchase admission is required for all visitors We are not accepting cash at this time Bring a water bottle and snack: we have a water bottle-filling station on site but no food services Hand sanitizer is available Increased sanitization schedule for all public areas and surfaces All docent-led tours have been suspended Select interactive screens have been temporarily turned off We ask any visitors who feel unwell, have a fever or other symptoms to please stay home.
