Career Transitions: Expectations vs. Reality
GAIN is honored to partner with the Washington Government Relations Group, the Hispanic Lobbyists Association, Q Street, LGBT Congressional Staff Association, GLASS Caucus, and H Street Group to bring you an informative discussion on transitioning from one career to the next in this unpredictable Washington climate. Join us for an open dialogue about what to expect as a minority candidate in your job search and the resources you can leverage. Hear from DC's top lobbyists and representatives from major recruiting firms as they demystify how to make the leap between the public and private sectors; explain the differences between law firms, trade associates, think tanks, and lobbying firms; and discuss job opportunities you can pursue off of the Hill. Confirmed Panelists Include: MC: Cherie Wilson, Director, Government Affairs at General Motors Broderick Johnson, Senior of Counsel at Covington & Burling (former Obama Advisor) Conrad Woody, Head of US Corporate and Government Affairs Practice at Odger Berndtson Jocelyn Hong, Principal at Jocelyn Hong & Associates We have designed this event to fully comply with US Senate Rule 35.1(d)(1), US House Ethics Manual pp. 41-47, and the U.S. Executive Branch Gift Rules regarding the "widely attended event" exception to the gift rules. US Senate and House staff are advised to consult with the US Senate and House Ethics Committee to confirm this analysis. US Executive Branch employees are advised to consult with their agency counsel. State and municipal employees are advised to consult with their agency counsel as to applicable gift rules for their jurisdiction before participating in the event. This is an informal, off-the-record discussion that is closed to the media.
