A Resilient Africa and the Role of Higher Education Institutions

OtherFragility Resilience (IDFR), Elliott School, GW. It will feature reflections and analysis discussed from the State of African Resilience Report 2017 that was developed by the Resilient Africa Network with the support of IDFR and funding from USAID. Panelists include: Amb. Mulamula. L. GWU/IAS Dr. Maggie Linak, USAID (To be confirmed) Dr. Apollo. M Nkwake, IDFR The panel will discuss Africa through the lens of resilience, as well as address trends that challenge the entire continent and try to provide reflections on resilience in context of: Rapid Urbanization HIV/AIDS Drought Internal Displacement In addition, the role of higher education institutions will be explored. Current examples of collaboration with higher education will be provided and insights on how to augment and improve this collaboration will be discussed.
