Chef Michael Cassady is the newest member of the Modus Hotels management team as the Area Executive Chef of two of our restaurants; both Circle Bistro and Notti Bianche.
A California native, Chef Michael moved to D.C. in 2005 with a desire to work in politics, however shortly after the cross-country move, he found his true calling and enrolled in Maryland’s L’Academie de Cuisine. Following culinary school, Chef Michael began working for Chef Rob Weland at Poste Modern Brasserie and proudly became amongst the first culinary teams to bring a “farm to table” concept to the DC restaurant scene.
Over the course of next few years, Chef Michael travelled to London to work for Michelin Star Chef’s Tom and Robert Aikens at Tom’s Kitchen and then returned to the DC area and joined the Matchbox group of restaurants as sous chef and then executive chef of their Rockville location.
As Executive Chef of Circle Bistro, Michael incorporates his classic training with a desire to bring authentic American cuisine with a French flare to the DC area, supporting local and sustainable products and producers.
Chef Michael resides in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Iris and their dog, Rocky.
